history

The Topographia Ducatus Montani map from 1715 shows two farms under the name Weltersbag . In the 18th century, the place belonged to the parish of Leichlingen in the Bergisches Amt Miselohe . The topographical survey of the Rhineland from 1824 and the Prussian first survey from 1844 record the place unlabelled or as Weltersbach . On the former, a mill symbol is drawn next to the place.

In 1815/16 there were 57 people living in the village. In 1832 Weltersbach belonged to the mayor's office in Leichlingen . The place, which was categorized as a court town according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had eight residential buildings and five agricultural buildings at the time. At that time 55 people lived in the place, two of them Catholic and 55 Protestant faith.

In the municipality lexicon for the province of Rhineland in 1885 eight houses with 42 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had nine houses with 47 inhabitants, in 1905 seven houses and 39 inhabitants.

The pilgrims 'home Weltersbach was founded in 1926 by the parishes of the Evangelical Free Churches Regional Associations of Rhineland and Westphalia under the leadership of the Wuppertal pastor Ernst Merten, who also directed the pilgrims' home in the first few years. On the large yard area, the residents continued to run agriculture and a horticultural business for self-sufficiency. After the Second World War , the pilgrims' home was expanded to give refugees a home. In the 1980s, for demographic reasons, the concept changed in the direction of care and support.
