The Weltersbachtal nature reserve extends east of Leichlingen (Rhineland) and Roderbirken , north of Junkersholz and Bremersheide to west of Weltersbach in the town of Leichlingen in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

description

The nature reserve extends on the valley floor of the Weltersbach with pasture grassland , varying moisture levels, fallow grassland , individual trees and afforested areas. Beech forests predominate on the valley slopes . It is a valuable habitat for cave breeders , amphibians and dragonflies .

Protective purposes

The area is protected to maintain and restore a near-natural stream floodplain with spring areas , near-natural stream and wet meadows as a habitat for rare and endangered plant and animal species as well as near-natural forest stands.
