The Hülser Bruch nature reserve is located south of Rothenberg in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

description

The nature reserve has forest areas with different soil moisture levels and different tree species composition. In the northern part, individual trenches run through the area, and waters flow off towards the Wupper . This is followed by waterlogged soils with black alder swamp forests and alluvial forests with sedge stocks . On drier locations you can find sycamore stands and mixed oak forests .

Protective purposes

The area is protected to maintain and secure soil-moist and wet locations with rare and endangered forest stands and plant communities, such as alder and alluvial forests , silting small bodies of water, sieves and wet ditches.

Prohibitions

To achieve the protective purposes, it is also prohibited

  1. change the groundwater level or implement irrigation, drainage or other measures that change the water balance,
  2. to remove the naturally occurring, lying or standing dead wood in the stocks of the alder and alluvial forests near the groundwater,
  3. driving in the waterlogged areas with forest machines,
  4. Carry out soil protection liming.
