The Siefental nature reserve north of Oberschmitte extends north of Oberschmitte and Bennert in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisch district . It is a beech forest with mainly old wood in a narrow Siefental .

description

The area is protected to maintain a deciduous forest complex in a typical Kerbtal valley of the Bergisches Land . It is particularly about the protection and maintenance of damp to wet forest areas as well as natural spring hollows and spring swamps.

Protective purposes

Protection includes the following purposes:

  • Preservation and securing of the source areas and near-natural areas of flowing and standing inland waters,
  • Securing the function as a biotope network area ,
  • Protection, care and development of the damp to wet spring hollows and swamps as well as rare animal and plant species.
