The nature reserve Balkener Feld is located south of Balken in the town of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis. It extends to the city limits of Leverkusen .
description
The area has a small-scale switch from wet wet Hochstaudenfluren and rushes - and small sedge Riedern and reed beds . There are also willow bushes and stocks of older poplars on flat bog peat .
Protection goals
The area is protected to preserve and secure a wetland complex with different, rare and endangered plant communities , a ditch-like body of water as well as plant and animal species. The protection serves to maintain a wetland with its rich formation of species and types of vegetation. The main purposes are:
- Preservation and safeguarding of the following protected habitats : breakage and swamp forests , marshes , reed beds and sedges and bins rich wet meadows .
- Securing the function as a biotope composite area .
- Preservation and development of the landscape in its individuality and beauty.
- Protection, care and development of damp and wet meadows as well as broken and floodplain forests .
