The Riedbachaue nature reserve extends west of the city of Leichlingen (Rhineland) . It extends to the federal highway 3 . To the north it borders on Immigrather Straße . To the south is the border in the area of ​​the street Am Förstchens Busch. It is traversed by the Galkhauser Bach , which is called Riedbach here . The nature reserve is part of the Bergische Heideterrasse .

These are meadows and pastures with different moisture levels. The grassland areas are criss-crossed by wet ditches, which are bordered by tall herbaceous vegetation or sedge. In between there are structurally rich trees, such as field trees, hedges, rows of trees and individual trees that shape the landscape. In the southern area there are older stands of a riparian forest .
