Windvane is a locality in the city of Leichlingen (Rhineland) in the Rheinisch-Bergisches Kreis .

Location and description

The wind vane is located in the area between the former route of the state road L288 and the road Bremsen immediately to the southeast bordering the larger lower center . The name Windfahne , which in the first half of the 20th century was still independent, is no longer in the minds of the population.

Other neighboring places, like Windvane mostly in the western suburbs of Leichlingen, are Kellerhansberg , Scheeresberg , Kaltenberg , Brückerfeld , Bremsen , Zwei Eichen , Altenhof , Bockstiege , Pastorat and Bahnhof .

history

Wind vane was set back east of the sand road , an old road from Aufderhöhe to Opladen . The Leichlinger municipality map from 1830 shows the place unlabeled. On the 1893-95 edition of the Solingen measuring table sheet of the official topographic map 1: 25,000, the location is marked with letters, the following ones show it unmarked.

From the middle of the 20th century, the gaps in the residential and commercial development with the neighboring residential areas were closed and the wind vane became part of the western suburb of Leichlingen.
