Nyschni Vorota (Ukrainian Нижні Ворота ; Russian Нижние Ворота / Nischnije Vorota , Slovak Nižní Verecky or older Nižní Verecki , Hungarian Alsóverecke ) is a place in Wolowez district in the Transcarpathian Oblast in western Ukraine .
The place was first mentioned in writing as Werezka in 1263 and is located in the Latoryzja valley in the middle of the Carpathian Mountains near the border with Lviv Oblast . Administratively it forms together with the village Sadilske (Задільське) the district council of the same name.
Until 1919 the place belonged to the Empire Austria-Hungary or Hungary , afterwards as part of the Carpathian-Ukraine to Czechoslovakia . With the annexation he came back to Hungary in 1939–1945, from 1946 the place has been part of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic and since 1991 part of Ukraine.
In 1946 it was renamed to its current name, until then the place had the Ukrainian name Nyschni Werezky (Нижні Верецьки).
From 1971 to 1995 the place had the status of an urban-type settlement , but this was revoked on April 6, 1995.
