The neighborhood Rüden is a few hundred meters upstream . In the direction of Widdert , the Wupper Mountains tower up; only a steep and narrow street connects the two places.

history

The historical development of the court is probably closely connected to that of the Rüdens . Both places are united by their seclusion. As in male dogs, the craft of blades can also be demonstrated in Friedrichstal. Among other things, the Lower Friedrichstaler Kotten, which still exists today, served as a place of work for the grinders there.

The map Topographia Ducatus Montani from 1715 the farm under the name Fiederichsdal . In the 18th century the place belonged to the Honschaft Widdert of the parish of Solingen in the Bergisch office of Solingen . The topographical record of the Rhineland from 1824 shows the courtyard unlabeled and the Prussian first record from 1844 as Friedrichsthal .

In 1815/16 87 people lived in the village. In 1832 Friedrichstal continued to belong to the mayor's office of Höhscheid under the name Friedrichsthal within the Widdert family . The place, which was categorized as a village according to the statistics and topography of the Düsseldorf administrative district , had 15 residential houses and 18 agricultural buildings at that time. At that time, 83 residents lived in the place, four of them Catholic and 79 Protestant.

In the municipality lexicon for the Rhineland province in 1885, 39 houses with 155 inhabitants are given. In 1895 the place had 30 houses with 170 inhabitants, in 1905 29 houses and 146 inhabitants.

Today Friedrichstal, which is accessible by hiking trails along the Wupper, with its historical backdrop of centuries-old half-timbered and slate houses of the Bergisch style, is especially popular with walkers and hikers.
