Lucas & Arthur Jussen are a Dutch piano duo .

Career

Lucas Jussen (born February 27, 1993 in Hilversum ) and Arthur Jussen (born September 28, 1996 in Hilversum) are brothers who have worked together as pianists and often as a duo since early childhood. You come from a musical family: your mother Christianne van Gelder teaches the flute and father Paul Jussen is a timpanist in the Dutch radio philharmonic orchestra in Hilversum and a percussionist in the Da Capo ensemble. The brothers are students of the piano teacher Jan Wijn. They received regular tutors from Maria João Pires and played with pianists Ricardo Castro and Lang Lang . On November 24, 2006, at the age of ten and thirteen, they played the 10th concerto for two pianos (Mozart) in the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam) with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic under Jaap van Zweden. On November 30th, 2009 they performed the concerto for two pianos (Poulenc) with the same orchestra under Michael Schønwandt . Since March 12, 2010 the brothers have had a contract with Deutsche Grammophon Gesellschaft . After studying for two years with Menahem Pressler in the United States since October 2013, Lucas is continuing his training with Dmitri Bashkirov at the Reina Sofia University of Music in Madrid . He is artist in residence with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra . Arthur studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory under Jan Wijn .
