Lionel Richard
Lionel Richard (born November 25, 1938 in Dreux ) is a French historian , cultural scientist and writer .
Life
Richard is a retired professor at the Université de Picardie Jules-Verne in Amiens . His writings are regularly published in well-known French publications and publishers, such as Le Magazine littéraire , Le Monde diplomatique or Encyclopædia Universalis .
Since 1971 Richard has dealt regularly with the German history of the 20th century, in particular National Socialism and its devastating effect on humanity and culture . Among other things, he described the everyday life of the Weimar Republic , the origins of Hitler and Goebbels as manipulators , wrote an encyclopedia for the Bauhaus and described the German Expressionists. A number of his writings have been translated into various languages and have become classics in their field. In 2010 he named Maximilian Scheer for the first time - in Le Monde diplomatique - as the main author of the essential 1936 publication Das deutsche Volk anklagt . He wrote a foreword for the reprint of this publication in 2012.
