Klosterhardt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Klosterhardt is a district in the north of the Oberhausen district of Osterfeld and had 12,214 inhabitants at the end of 2008 (including Tackenberg -Ost). The "cradle of the Ruhr industry", the St. Antony hut, was built in 1760 in Klosterhardt .

history

The establishment of the St. Antony Hut did not create a settlement. The area around Klosterhardt was and remained sparsely populated until the beginning of the 20th century. The barren soil yielded even less income than the fields in the area, because in many places heavy brown stones provided the farmers with additional work when plowing. They had to laboriously dig up the chunks and pile them up at the edges of the field. In 1890, the teacher Heidbrinck wrote about the Klosterhardt school district: “Until 1840, Klosterhardt was only inhabited by a few families, they were as follows: House no. 31 Wischermann> Bockemöller, no. 32 official apartment of the Antoniehütte, no. 33 Mußfeld, No. 34 Vogelpoth, No. 35 Hartmann, now a master builder. The Hartmannkotten is still standing today and is considered the oldest house in Klosterhardt. The residents of the Klosterhardt are almost all factory workers or miners. Lehmberg, Mussfeld and Baumeister prefer arable farming. "

The Gutehoffnungshütte acquired land from Count Westerholt-Gysenberg in Klosterhardt, Bottrop and Sterkrade in 1905 , and then from 1912 to 1913 the Jacobi colliery , which ceased mining in 1974. Until then, the area was only used for forestry and, to a lesser extent, for agriculture. In the years 1912–1928, the first large settlement in the area Haniel-, Hugo-, Huyssen- and Jacobistraße was built in Klosterhardt. It is the Jacobisiedlung that provided living space for the miners and their families from the mine of the same name.

Infrastructure

Klosterhardt is primarily a residential area. There are shopping opportunities on Teutoburger Strasse. The Jacobi Volksgolfplatz (on the site of the former colliery) and numerous cycling and hiking trails through the district offer space for various leisure activities.

With the bus lines SB 92, SB 93, 263, 953 and 961 of the transport association Rhein-Ruhr , Klosterhardt is connected to the local transport network.
