Bermensfeld

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bermensfeld is a district of Oberhausen in the southeast of the Alt-Oberhausen district . The statistical district had 4,949 inhabitants on December 31, 2018. The name of the district, which for a long time belonged to the Borbeck district of Frintrop and only came to Oberhausen in 1915, is derived from the former knight's seat Haus Bermen , which was no longer localizable and was under the Essen monastery.

Corner of Essener and Mellinghofer Straße

The core area of the district borders on Essen in the east , while it is bordered on the other three sides by thoroughfares: Essener Straße ( B 231 ) in the north, Mellinghofer Straße in the west and Nathlandstraße in the south. The Bermensfeld district in the Oberhausen-Ost social area also includes the Knappenviertel west of Mellinghofer Straße . The district, which was characterized by heathland and individual farms until the 19th century , is now predominantly a residential area. The urban residential development started at the corner of Essener and Mellinghofer Strasse near the former customs station "Lipperheidebaum" and not far from there Oberhausen colliery opened in 1857/58 . The quarter was increasingly opened up by branch roads eastwards in the direction of the Essen city limits, where the green corridor around the now renatured Läppkes Mühlenbach separates the Oberhausen settlement area from Essen-Frintrop. The district is integrated into the urban transport network by bus lines SB94, 953 and 960 of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association , and there are also connections to Essen via lines 143 and 185.
