The Weier Heide is a part of Oberhausen municipality Sterkrade , the end of 2012 approximately counted 1,800 inhabitants in an area of 137 ha. The district lies in a triangle whose boundaries are the A3 motorway in the west ( Holten , Waldteich ), the Oberhausen-Arnheim railway line in the east, Dunkelschlag ( Alsfeld and Sterkrade- Mitte) and the main Sterkrade canal in the south, which connects the Weierheide of Biefang and Schwarze Heide separates, form. The Weierheide is one of four Oberhausen districts that have Heide in their place names. They are reminiscent of the type of landscape that shaped this area until the end of the 19th century.

Infrastructure

The Weierheide is mainly characterized by the three industrial areas Im Erlengrund, Waldteich and Weierheide. A green area with bike and hiking trails has been created on the site of the former Sterkrade colliery . The dump to the west of Weierstrasse and south of the Oberhausen-Arnheim railway line is a landscaped structure with a square viewing area on top of it. Thanks to its proximity to the Oberhausen-Holten / Sterkrade motorway exit on the A3 , the district is well connected to the transport network. Weierheide is integrated into the local transport network with the 957 bus of the Rhein-Ruhr transport association.

In the district there is the comprehensive school Weierheide, whose grades 5–7 are taught in the former secondary school Fichteschule in the neighboring district of Buschhausen .
