Euodynerus quadrifasciatus is a species from the order of the hymenoptera (Hymenoptera) within the solitary wasps (Eumeninae).

features

The wasps reach a body length of 10 to 14 millimeters (females) or 10 to 12 millimeters (males). They have a narrow incision between the metanotum and the raised sidebar of the propodeum . The second sternite has no longitudinal furrow at the base, which distinguishes the species from the similar Euodynerus notatus that has one.

Occurrence

The species occurs in North Africa and Europe, to the north of Scandinavia. So far nothing is known about the habitats. The animals fly from mid-May to early August. They are rare in Central Europe.

Way of life

Discoelius zonalis mainly builds its nests in the abandoned bores of beetles, but also in abandoned nests of mortar bees . The brood is supplied with caterpillars from moths and probably also larvae from leaf beetles . The species is parasitized by Chrysis longula .
