from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Euphemia († early 4th century? In Aquileia ) was a legendary Christian martyr and saint .

Euphemia is said to have been martyred in Aquileia together with the Saints Dorothea, Thecla and Erasma. Hermagoras buried their bodies with honor. The legend dates the martyrdom to the time of Emperor Nero . Since Hermagoras is probably to be put in the time of the emperor Diocletian , there is probably a subsequent early dating and Euphemia really belongs to the 3rd or 4th century. Euphemia's commemoration day is September 4th and is venerated in Venice and Ravenna .
