There are seated cymene formed that are very close together at the growing tips. The cyathia , up to about 3 millimeters in size, are covered with hair. The nectar glands are elongated and the deeply lobed fruits are about 7.5 millimeters wide and 8 millimeters long. They stand on an 8 millimeter long and bent back handle. The spherical and smooth seed is about 6 millimeters in size and has an appendage .

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia arbuscula is widespread in Yemen on the Socotra archipelago . The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered to be Near Threatened.

The species was first described in 1888 by Isaac Bayley Balfour . A synonym is Tirucallia arbuscula (Balf.f.) PVHeath (1996).

A distinction is made between the following varieties:

  • Euphorbia arbuscula var. Arbuscula
  • Euphorbia arbuscula var. Montana Balf.f. ; In contrast to the stem species, it only forms shrubs up to 2 meters in height, where the shoots are thicker and shorter; the fruit stands on a 6 millimeter long stem, is smaller and only 5 millimeters wide and 6 millimeters long
