The succulent Euphorbia avasmontana forms shrubs up to 2 meters high and about 2 meters in diameter. The shoots that emerge in large numbers from the base and are usually pentagonal are simple and upright. They are constricted into elongated, about 13 centimeters long and 7 centimeters wide, sections and provided on the edges with flat teeth that are 1 centimeter apart. Thorns up to 1 centimeter long are formed and the thorn shields are combined to form a horn edge.
The inflorescence is formed from two to three simple and almost sedentary cymes , which are in a horizontal line. The cyathia are about 8 millimeters in size and the elongated nectar glands meet and are colored yellow. The bluntly lobed fruit grows up to 6 millimeters in size and has a 6 millimeter long stem. The spherical seed is smooth and reaches 1.7 millimeters in diameter.
