Euphorbia baleensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia baleensis forms sparsely branched shoots up to 75 centimeters in length from a swollen root, which are spreading and square. They are about 8 millimeters thick and have inconspicuous teeth on the edges at a distance of 2 centimeters from each other. The individually standing thorn shields are elongated and are up to 13 millimeters long. Thorns up to 14 millimeters long are formed, which are thickened up to 3 millimeters at the base. The stipule spines are 1 millimeter long.

Nothing is known about inflorescences, flowers, fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia baleensis is distributed in the southeast of Ethiopia on red limestone soils with forest cover at altitudes of 1150 to 1400 meters.

The species was first described in 1993 by Michael George Gilbert .
