Euphorbia bemarahaensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia bemarahaensis forms little branched shrubs up to about 50 centimeters in height. The cylindrical and gray-green colored shoots are up to 6 millimeters thick. The egg-shaped leaves are about 2.5 inches long and 1.4 inches wide. They stand on a 3 millimeter long handle.

The individual cyathia are terminal and apparently axillary on the shoot and are up to 1.5 millimeters in size. They are almost seated and covered with hair. The four elliptical nectar glands are colored green and almost border one another. The clearly lobed ovary is covered with hair and stands on an approximately 3 millimeter long, little protruding stalk.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia bemarahaensis is endemic to the west of the Madagascan region of Antsalova . The species is on the IUCN Red List and is considered endangered (Vulnerable).

The species was first described in 1999 by Werner Rauh and Ralph Daniel Mangelsdorff .
