Euphorbia bitataensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia bitataensis grows from a strong, rhizome-like root with densely branched shoots. These are square and about 8 millimeters wide. At the edges of the shoots there are protruding teeth that are up to 18 millimeters apart. The elongated thorn shields are up to 12 millimeters long and 3 millimeters wide. Thorns up to 10 millimeters in length and 2 millimeters long stipule spines are formed.

The inflorescence consists of single, simple and almost sedentary cymes . The cyathia are 6 millimeters in diameter and the elliptical and somewhat pinkish-yellow colored nectar glands adjoin each other. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia bitataensis is distributed in the south of Ethiopia in rock crevices on granite in deciduous forests at altitudes of 1500 to 1600 meters.

The species was first described in 1993 by Michael George Gilbert .
