Euphorbia boinensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia boinensis grows as a climbing shrub with a trunk 2 centimeters thick and branching. The thin branches are up to 3 millimeters thick, are striped and divided into recognizable sections at the nodes . The internodes are up to 6 centimeters long and are curved in a zigzag manner. The further branching takes place in whorls . The small leaves are short-lived.

The unisexual cyathia are almost sessile and are about 4 millimeters in diameter. The two to five elliptical nectar glands are almost adjacent to each other. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia boinensis is endemic to the northwest of Madagascar in the Ankarafantsika National Park in forests on sandy soils. The species is on the IUCN Red List and is critically endangered.

The species was first described in 1966 by Jean-Henri Humbert and Jacques Désiré Leandri .
