Euphorbia brakdamensis is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia brakdamensis forms small shrubs up to 20 centimeters in height that form many branches at the tip of the main shoot . The growth form is cushion-like. The simple or branched shoots are up to 12.5 inches long and 1 cm thick. They are patterned by protruding and elongated warts. The warts are up to 8 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide. The linear leaves stand upright and are up to 2.5 centimeters long.

The inflorescence is formed by single and upright cymes that stand on stems 2.5 to 5.5 centimeters long. Four to six short-lived bracts develop on the stems, which go up to 5 millimeters below the 9 millimeter cyathia . The individually standing nectar glands have two to four linear and recurved appendages that are up to 1 millimeter long. The sitting ovary is only slightly hairy. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia brakdamensis is widespread in the South African province of North Cape in Namaqualand .

The species was first described in 1915 by Nicholas Edward Brown . The species may be just one form of Euphorbia filiflora .
