The succulent Euphorbia braunsii forms small shrubs up to 15 centimeters in height. From a thick root that merges into the trunk, which is up to 15 centimeters long, a richly branched cushion up to 25 centimeters in diameter with many branches is formed. The outstretched branches are 2.5 to 10 inches long and 1.5 to 3 inches thick. They are covered with round warts 6 millimeters in size and patterned through them.
Single cyathia or simple cymen are formed at the ends of the branches. They stand on 3 to 16 millimeter long stems and are covered with a few bracts that harden and are long-lived. The cyathia become 6 millimeters in size. The individually standing nectar glands are colored green and have two to four white, hair-like appendages on the edges that are up to 1 millimeter long. The almost spherical ovary is almost sitting. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.
