Gerd Neuhaus

Gerd Neuhaus (* 1952 in Essen ) is a German Catholic theologian .

Life

From 1973 to 1978 he studied Catholic theology, German language and literature and philosophy in Bochum , completing the first state examination for teaching at the grammar school in the subjects of Catholic religion and German. From 1978 to 1981 Neuhaus administered the position of a scientific assistant at the chair for philosophical-theological borderline questions in Bochum. After receiving his doctorate in 1981 as Dr. theol. and the legal clerkship in 1982 for teaching at grammar schools in Duisburg , he became a teacher for Catholic religion and German at the Abtei-Gymnasium in 1983 and was also head of the Catholic religion at the Oberhausen seminar from 1989-1998. After his habilitation in 1992 for the subject of fundamental theology in Bochum, he was appointed private lecturer in 1993 and an adjunct professor in 1999 . In January 2018 he retired as a teacher, but continues to perform his duties as an adjunct professor.

His work focuses on religion and violence, Christianity's claim to truth and the diversity of religions, belief in God and experience of suffering.
