Euphorbia cameronii is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia cameronii forms shrubs or trees up to 8 meters high. These are richly branched and have succulent shoots with protruding leaf scars. The egg-shaped leaves are up to 4 inches long and 2.5 inches wide. They stand on a stalk up to 4 millimeters long and are short-lived. The stipules are transformed into clearly visible, small glands.

The inflorescence consists of individual cyathia or they stand in two- to three-rayed umbels. The individual cyathia reach 7 millimeters in diameter. Five elliptical nectar glands are formed, which are colored yellow and just touch each other. The almost spherical fruit has a reddish shimmer and is about 1.5 centimeters tall. At the base of the segments there are two small thickened ribs. The spherical seed is about 6 millimeters in size, has an appendage and has a smooth surface.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia cameronii is common in the north of Somalia on slopes with limestone cliffs and loose scrubland at altitudes of 400 to 1600 meters.

The species was first described in 1911 by Nicholas Edward Brown . Synonyms for this species are Euphorbia chionantha P.ROBally and Tirucallia cameronii (NEBr.) PVHeath (1996).
