Euphorbia cumulata is a species of the genus spurge ( Euphorbia ) in the family of Euphorbiaceae (Euphorbiaceae).
description
The succulent Euphorbia cumulata grows as a small, dioecious shrub and is up to 20 centimeters high. Solitary shoots emerge from a rhizome-like root and form compact groups. The shoots have a diameter of 3 centimeters and are provided with seven to new ribs. The ribs are densely covered with flat warts.
Separate, sterile and thorny inflorescence stalks are formed that are 2 to 4 centimeters long. The individual cyathia appear at the tips of the shoots and have stalks up to 5 millimeters long. There are five to six small bracts on these . The male cyathia reach up to 6 millimeters in diameter, the female up to 3 millimeters. The elliptical nectar glands are single. The spherical fruit is up to 8 millimeters in size and is covered with downy hairs. The egg-shaped seed has a smooth surface.
Distribution and systematics
Euphorbia cumulata is common in the Western Cape province of South Africa.
The species was first described in 1931 by Robert Allen Dyer .
