Euphorbia sapinii is a species of the genus milkweed ( Euphorbia ) in the family of the milkweed family(Euphorbiaceae).

description

The succulent Euphorbia sapinii grows as a slightly branched shrub with a trunk up to 15 centimeters in diameter and up to 1 meter high. The round shoots reach a diameter of up to 10 centimeters and are covered with flat warts arranged in a spiral. The round thorn shields are about 8 millimeters in size. The short-lived thorns are up to 12 millimeters long. The ribbon-shaped leaves are close to the shoot tips and are up to 30 centimeters long and 1.75 centimeters wide. They are sedentary and remain on the younger shoots longer.

Single and simple cyathias are formed. The inflorescence stalks are up to 1 centimeter long and the cyathia reach about 5 millimeters in diameter. The nectar glands are elliptical and the ovary protrudes only a little. Nothing is known about the fruits and seeds.

Distribution and systematics

Euphorbia sapinii is widespread in West Africa in the Congo and in Cameroon .

The species was first described in 1908 by Émile Auguste Joseph De Wildeman .
