Émile Auguste Joseph De Wildeman

Émile Auguste Joseph De Wildeman (born October 19, 1866 in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode , † July 24, 1947 in Brussels ) was a Belgian botanist. Its official botanical author abbreviation is “ De Wild. "

He studied pharmacy from 1883 to 1887 at the Université libre de Bruxelles . He then moved to the botanical garden in Brussels , where he worked from 1891 to 1931. He wrote several books on the flora of Africa and described over 3,600 plant species.

After him the genus Dewildemania is O. Hoffm . named from the tribe Vernonieae in the Asteraceae plant family.

In 1939 he became a corresponding member of the Académie des Sciences in Paris.
