The Eurasian National Gumilyov University , shortly ENU ( Russian Евразийский национальный университет имени Л. Н. Гумилёва ; Kazakh Л. Н. Гумилев атындағы Еуразия ұлттық университеті ) is a university in the Kazakh capital only Sultan . It is named after the Russian historian and ethnologist Lev Gumiljow .

The university was founded in 1996 on the initiative of Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev , and merged into one university with two of the city's higher education institutions, the Pedagogical Institute and the Engineering Institute. According to various university rankings, it is the best Kazakh university today.
