The Euregio Eisenbahn Ahaus-Alstätte eV (EEA) was founded in 1991 and entered in the register of associations in Ahaus . The non-profit association has set itself the goal of preserving the regional history of small trains. Valuable cultural assets relating to the history of transport and industry should be preserved, cared for and presented in a suitable manner. In particular, the contribution of the railway to the economic and social development of the western Münsterland should be comprehensively documented and preserved for posterity. The EEA wants to fulfill these museum tasks in various projects and thus create a museum ensemble that underlines the special character of the small railways in western Münsterland. The association operates, among other things, the museum train " Pengel-Anton ", which was the last train to leave the Alstätte home station after the shutdown of the Ahaus-Alstätter railway on March 24, 2007 and is now operated by the Association for the Maintenance and Promotion of Rail Traffic Bocholt eV on the Bocholt line - Must be wrong.
