location

The parks are located in the south of Brandenburg , in the east of Saxony and in the neighboring border regions of Poland . At the same time, this is also the area of the Euroregions Spree-Neisse-Bober and Neisse-Nisa-Nysa and the Lausitz .

history

Even at the beginning, some parks had similarities in terms of the person of a creator and role models from abroad.

For many years, individual parks have been funded by the European Union within the framework of the INTERREG program with ERDF funds .

Foundation of the park association

The European Park Association Lausitz was founded in 2010 under the motto From Count Brühl to Prince Pückler . Since then, members have been the Fürst-Pückler-Park Bad Muskau , the Fürst-Pückler-Park Branitz , the East German Rosengarten Forst and the Schlosspark von Brody / Pförten .

First successes

Muskau parkland

The oldest of the parks in Brody / Pförten from the 18th century has become younger. The park in Bad Muskau, created from 1815 to 1845 by Hermann Fürst Pückler, became even more attractive. The Branitzer Park, Pückler's late work (1846–71), including the castle, became an even more heavily funded state foundation and the East German Rose Garden, built in 1913 as a garden fair on Brühl's grounds, celebrated its 100th anniversary with many sustainable investments. In themed years and exhibition projects, the facilities were improved and brought closer to the public. The names Heinrich Graf Brühl in Forst / Pförten and Hermann Fürst Pückler in Muskau and Branitz also became even better known. Both princes left behind important parks and palaces, they and their descendants have left a lasting mark on Lusatia as a cultural landscape. The group was able to preserve the monuments of gardening and architecture and improve their tourist prospects. In 2013, the park association was recognized by the Federal Ministry of Construction and the Polish Ministry for Regional Development as a model German-Polish cooperation project. The Euroregion Spree-Neisse-Bober also recognized the successes with a celebratory colloquium on the subject of "20 years of cross-border cooperation in the Euroregion Spree-Neisse-Bober" on September 21, 2013 in Forst.

Five new members in the park association

Since June 2017, the network has expanded to include another five facilities: the Zatonie Castle Park (Günthersdorf, district of Zielona Góra), the Kromlauer Park, the Altdöbern Castle Park, the Neschwitz Castle Park (near Bautzen) and the Żagań Castle Park (Sagan). A considerable variety of landscaping and architectural treasures are added here. The example of Kromlau, where funding of 3.5 million euros has been available since the end of 2017, among other things for the renovation of the unique Rakotz Bridge, shows how beneficial the interaction is for the individual parks. For the overgrown Zatonie Park (Günthersdorf), 2.5 million euros are made available "to wake it up from its slumber".
