European Ortisei Prize
The European St. Ulrichs Prize is a cultural prize awarded by the European Ortisei Foundation. The foundation was established in 1993 by the city and district of Dillingen an der Donau . It honors personalities who have rendered services to the unity of Europe in the Christian spirit.
Foundation, endowment
The European St. Ulrichs Foundation was founded in 1993, the 1000th year of the canonization of Bishop Ulrich von Augsburg , on the initiative of the then District Administrator Anton Dietrich as a foundation of the district and the large district town of Dillingen . The purpose of the foundation is to promote the unity of Europe in the Christian-Occidental tradition and in the spirit of Ortisei. The chairman of the foundation is the incumbent district administrator of the Dillingen district, the chairman of the board of trustees is the incumbent Augsburg diocesan bishop . The purpose of the foundation is achieved, among other things, by awarding the European St. Ulrichs Prize to people, initiatives and institutions that are particularly active in the fields of politics, church, science, culture, economy and social commitment. The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros (2018).
