Europa Cinemas

Europa Cinemas , also known as Europa Cinemas Network and International Network of Cinemas for the Circulation of European Films , is a European film theater network founded in 1992 by MEDIA and the Center national du cinéma et de l'image animée (CNC) to promote European film Based in Paris. Financial support is given to cinemas that show a specified minimum proportion of European films (excluding the respective national ones) in their programs. The funding from the MEDIA Program of the EU is through the Eurimages Program of Europe added, which is aimed at European countries outside the EU.

The network includes 977 cinemas with 2350 screens, which are located in 596 cities in 42 countries (as of 2016). It organizes an annual conference and has been awarding the Europa Cinemas label to a European film selected by a jury at the five major European film festivals in Berlin , Cannes , Karlovy Vary , Locarno and Venice since 2003 .
