The European Autoimmunity Standardization Initiative (EASI) is a medical-scientific association of immunological or laboratory medicine doctors and scientists in the field of rheumatology based in Freiburg im Breisgau . The purpose of the association is the Europe-wide networking and improvement of the cooperation between experts in the field of research and standardization of diagnosis and therapy of rheumatism and autoimmune diseases . There are national associations in Austria , Belgium , Finland , France , Germany , Israel , Italy , the Netherlands , Norway , Portugal , Spain , Sweden , Switzerland and the Ukraine . The establishment of EASI was initiated in 2002 by Allan Wiik and Michael Haass with the diagnostics company Phadia . In 2011, Phadia was acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific .

structure

The EASI Network is formed by the EASI Core Group , the EASI National Teams , and the EASI Forum . The EASI Conference takes place regularly as part of the International Congress on Autoimmunity . The EASI Core Group consists of a core group of scientists who meet regularly to deal with current main topics and coordinate national efforts.

Within EASI there are national associations in Austria , Belgium , Finland , France , Germany , Israel , Italy , the Netherlands , Norway , Portugal , Spain , Sweden , Switzerland and the Ukraine . The German EASI was founded in 2005, the Austrian section in 2006.

The forum is formed by delegates from the national teams. One clinician and one laboratory researcher should each be sent. The meetings take place at least once a year.

The EASI publishes recommendations on the diagnosis and testing of autoimmune diseases. Further publications come from the respective national teams. EASI aims to be recognized as an EULAR Standing Committee by the European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR).
