tasks

The purpose of the statutes is to promote science and research - based on the motto: Share your knowledge . This purpose is to be achieved in particular through the creation and dissemination of scientific knowledge with regard to motivation , attitude, values, adjustment processes, performance and health of people who are active in sports or are interested in sports . Sport is understood here to mean all forms of targeted human movement that are aimed at maintaining or improving health, physical performance or individual and social well-being.

The ECSS advises national and European institutions, such as the European Union and the Council of Europe , with regard to current research needs and new research results in sports science, as well as issues in sports science or related disciplines. In addition, the ECSS organizes an annual congress.

Young Investigator Award

The ECSS sees a special task in promoting the next generation of scientists. The Young Investigators Award is an integral part of the annual ECSS Congress. Prize money will be given to 20 young sports scientists (under 32 years of age) who will be able to convince scientifically through an oral or poster presentation at the congress. Scientific quality, relevance and applicability are the most important criteria.

European Journal of Sport Science

The European Journal of Sport Science (EJSS) is the sport science journal of the ECSS and PubMed listed. The articles relate to biological, behavioral and social science aspects related to sport and physical activity. The EJSS is published six times a year.

Position statements

Another ECSS project is the preparation of so-called position papers . This work can be used by national and international organizations to draft uniform and overarching guidelines. This is intended to help put the positive effects of sport and exercise on the political agenda.
