European Composers' Forum

The European Composers 'Forum ( ECF ) is the European umbrella organization of national composers' associations.

history

The first decision to found the company was taken at the European Composers' Congress in Vienna in 2006. The organization was founded in Brussels in the same year on the initiative of the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors and the Austrian Composers' Association. Together with the European Composer and Songwriter Alliance , the forum signed the declaration on the future of contemporary music creation in Europe at the ArtMusFair Congress in Glasgow in 2009 . In it they campaign for the promotion and distribution of new music . The Austrian Klaus Ager was elected President in 2006 (until 2014). Vice-presidents are Konrad Boehmer (Netherlands) and Helmut W. Erdmann (Germany). Fritz Niemann (Germany) was appointed General Secretary in 2011 , who held his office until his resignation in January 2014. Its members include 29 European associations (including the Austrian Association of Composers, the German Association of Composers and the Swiss Association of Musicians )
