European Network of Democratic Young Left

The European Network of Democratic Young Left (ENDYL; European Network of Democratic Young Left) was a network of left and democratic youth associations in Europe.

The association called its goals the fight against discrimination , racism and fascism as well as the identification of alternative models of production, sustainable development and human coexistence. In its political platform, the network committed itself to democracy , individual freedom, solidarity, human rights , internationalism and ecological responsibility.

ENDYL was founded on May 6-8, 1994 in Copenhagen from the youth organizations of the Forum of the New European Left . In 2012 the network stopped work. Some of the member associations planned to found a new alliance under the name Young European Left in May 2017.

From Germany the independent youth association Young Democrats / Young Left and the DIE LINKE -near youth organization Linksjugend ['solid] were members of ENDYL.

Inner structure

Members

Members were European, left-wing and democratic youth associations, which were accepted by resolution of the general assembly. ENDYL members continued to be autonomous youth associations. In March 2012 the network had 17 member associations.

The organs of ENDYL were the general assembly, the coordination council and the board of directors.

The General Assembly (GA) was ENDYL's highest decision-making body. Every year the representatives of all member organizations met to decide on the principles of ENDYL's work. The general meeting elected the board of directors, their successors and two financial auditors.

The Coordination Council (CC) was the only decision-making body between the general meetings. The coordination council met every two months by teleconference . The representatives of the member organizations were members of the coordination council.

The Executive Board (Board) took care of the daily political work and was responsible for the finances. He was elected by the general meeting.
