history

In 2001, the European Outdoor Film Tour, founded by Joachim Hellinger and Thomas Witt, began with screenings in 16 cities. With a duration of about two hours, various extreme sports short films are shown in documentary form. The composition of the films changes from year to year. They are shown in the respective cities in theaters, universities and special event locations. Over the years, the number of cities in which the films are shown has increased. During the 2014/15 tour it reached over 300 performances in 163 cities and 14 countries. The EOFT was able to record over 200,000 viewers. The film tour is shaped by its event character. The films are announced by a moderator with brief explanations. Every year the audience honors the best film in the respective program with the Audience Award via online voting. The event is sponsored by Mammut and Gore-Tex .

Film contributions

Typical film contents are documentaries about extreme sports . Almost every year posts about mountaineering , rock climbing , kayaking , skiing, and mountain biking are included. The program is characterized by a mixture of professional, complex productions as well as projects with small budgets and minimal technical equipment. The focus is on telling stories and the authentic portrayal of the protagonists. At the same time, there is a claim to show current top performances of the respective sports.

The films are either in-house productions, co-productions or licensing. The "European Outdoor Film Tour" program mostly contains specially edited and dramaturgically condensed versions of longer films. The film tour serves as a springboard for many little-known athletes and filmmakers to present their achievements to a large audience and to establish themselves in the scene .
