European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy
The European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy (ESGE) (German: "European Society for Gynecological Endoscopy") is a medical society based in the Belgian city of Leuven . The aim of the non-profit organization founded in 1994 is to promote the professional exchange between researchers and doctors who deal with gynecological endoscopy and related areas.
Typical applications of gynecological endoscopy are reflections of the vagina , the cervix ( colposcopy ), uterus ( hysteroscopy ) and the milk ducts of the female breast ( Ductoscopy ) used for diagnosis , but also in the context of minimally invasive surgery are used.
organization
The company has a board of directors that meets twice a year to determine the general direction of activities. There is also a permanent management team ( Executive Board ) consisting of a President, a President-Elect and four other managers who, together with the central office, are responsible for the day-to-day running of the company. The Advisory Board , a body of 16 members elected by the members of ESGE and representatives of other societies that are associated with ESGE in one way or another, has a further advisory role.
President of the Executive Board is currently (2017) Rudy Leon De Wilde.
program
The ESGE sees itself as a forum for the exchange of clinical experience, scientific considerations and research results. In addition, it promotes research in the field of gynecological endoscopy, evaluates the existing techniques in this area and makes recommendations for medical training.
Activities and Editing
The ESGE brings its members together every year at a congress . In 2014 and 2016 it took place in Brussels , 2015 in Budapest , and the 26th Congress took place from October 18-21, 2017 in Antalya , Turkey.
ESGE has also published its own specialist journal, Gynecological Surgery , since 2004 .
