The European Voice Teachers Association (EVTA) e. V. is the umbrella organization for singing teachers in Europe .

Organization and goals

A group of 20 teachers founded the EVTA in 1989, which was reorganized in Germany in 2004 as a registered non-profit organization. The association currently has member associations in 21 countries with around 4,300 individual members who give singing lessons in modern and traditional styles at all levels for children, lay people, students and professionals . The member organizations have individual profiles according to the diversity of European culture and differ considerably in size, scope and resources . Individuals must be members of a national association to be able to participate in the activities of the EVTA.

The aim is to promote cultural, educational and scientific issues

  • the vocal pedagogy in all musical styles
  • the continued education and training of language teachers, amateur and professional singers and all singing students
  • of the general interest in singing
  • the care and support of talented young singers
  • voice research
  • in Europe and especially in the countries of the member associations

The board of directors, which consists of five ordinary and two extraordinary members, is responsible for project planning and the administration of the association. Every year representatives of the individual member associations meet for a joint meeting.

The association honors deserving personalities by granting honorary membership. These include Horst Günter , Walter Berry , Angelika Kirchschlager , Christa Ludwig , Hilde Zadek and Franz Lukasovsky .
