history

Eurovia GmbH was created in 1999 through the takeover of the Teerbau group of companies founded in 1918 by SGE Verkehrsbau Union GmbH, which is affiliated with the SGE Group (today Vinci). This emerged from the Verkehrsbau Union GmbH (formerly VEB Autobahnbaukombinat) founded in 1990 and was mainly active in the new federal states. At the time of incorporation, Teerbau, the largest German road construction company at the time, had 23 branches and subsidiaries as well as around 160 production facilities. In the course of the takeover, the Teerbau head office in Bottrop was dissolved and its tasks were transferred to a new service company, Eurovia Services GmbH.

In 1999, when it was founded, Eurovia achieved an annual output of 618.8 million euros in Germany and a market share of around 7 percent.

In the following years, Eurovia expanded the group structure in Germany through start-ups and acquisitions. In 2001, Eurovia Beton GmbH was founded in order to bundle special competencies in the areas of concrete road construction, structural repairs and noise protection. In addition, Eurovia Infra GmbH was founded in 2001 to plan and implement large-scale projects. In 2003 the companies Eurovia Verkehrsbau GmbH and Eurovia Teerbau GmbH were founded, which deal with the core business of the group - civil engineering and traffic route construction. In the same year, Eurovia Industrie GmbH also started its business activities. The subsidiary focuses on the production and sale of road construction materials such as asphalt and bitumen .

With the acquisition of the Radeberg-based Sutter Group including the Oberottendorf quarry , Eurovia entered the raw material supply business in Germany in 2006. For this purpose, Eurovia Gestein GmbH was founded.

Eurovia expanded its rock division in 2008 by purchasing a quarry from the Risch Group in Iserlohn-Letmathe and in 2010 by purchasing Tarmac, a subsidiary of the Anglo American plc mining group. With this purchase, Eurovia took over, among other things, several stone quarries and gravel pits in the new federal states. Another subsidiary of Eurovia Germany is the Saarland bridge construction specialist TKR Krächan GmbH from Illingen (Saar)
