Eurydice († after 287 BC) was the daughter of the Macedonian politician and general Antipater and second wife of the satrap or later King Ptolemy I of Egypt .
Life
After the death of Alexander the Great , Antipater was one of the most powerful diadochi and married his daughter Eurydice - probably after the conference of Triparadeisus - around 320 BC. With Ptolemy I, the satrap of Egypt.
The following children emerged from the marriage of Eurydice and Ptolemy I:
- Ptolemy Keraunos , King of Macedon
- Meleagros , King of Macedon
- a son of unknown name, executed by Ptolemy II
- Lysandra , wife of Agathocles , son of Lysimachus
- Ptolemais , the wife of Demetrios Poliorketes
Eurydike's entourage included her niece Berenike, a widow from Macedonia who had lived since about 317 BC. The mistress and finally when Berenike I became the third wife of Ptolemy I. Berenike succeeded in not only ousting Eurydice from the side of her husband, but also of her eldest son Ptolemaios Keraunos from the line of succession.
Probably shortly before 287 BC Around 30 years after Ptolemy I turned to Berenike, Eurydice left Egypt, perhaps with her eldest son. 287 BC It is traceable in Miletus , where her daughter Ptolemais married the Diadochus Demetrios Poliorketes before his last campaign. The date of her death has not been recorded.
