The wingspan of the moths is 65 to 85 millimeters, with the males being slightly smaller than the females. Common to both sexes is the brownish base color of the upper sides of the wings. The white-gray pollination of both pairs of wings, which can vary greatly in intensity, is typical of the species. The front edge of the hind wings is sometimes slightly pink. The sexes differ only slightly. The females show a few small white spots in the disk region of the forewings, the anal angle in the males is pointed. The undersides of the wings each have a light brown color and show indistinct dark drawing elements.

Caterpillar

Adult caterpillars are colored green. Fir branch-like, prickly outgrowths, some of which are brownish-pink in color, protrude from each body segment. The back line is yellow-brown.

Doll

The doll has the shape of a dragon square , is colored yellow-green and shows some brown stripes and spots as well as a strongly protruding pointed hump on the back. It is attached to branches or leaves as a falling doll with a webbing anchorage.

The distribution area of ​​the species extends from southeast India through Thailand , Burma , Laos , Cambodia and Malaysia to southeast China and Vietnam . It is also found in the Philippines . Ten subspecies are currently listed in the individual occurrence areas . Euthalia anosia primarily inhabits evergreen deciduous forests.

Way of life

The moths fly mainly in March and April. They like to suckle on damp patches of earth or overripe fruits in order to absorb liquid and minerals. The caterpillars feed on the leaves of mango ( Mangifera indica ).
