Eva Johanna Rubin (born April 22, 1925 in Berlin ; † November 26, 2001 there ) was a German illustrator.

Life and works

Eva Johanna Rubin studied for one semester in 1941 at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin and continued this course from 1946 to 1951. Her teachers included Max Kraus , Peter Kleinschmidt and Peter Fischer . Rubin published her first picture book, The Colorful Garden , in 1946 by Thieme. In the 1940s and 1950s, Eva Johanna Rubin, who married the architect Rainer König in 1951, illustrated various books for adults, e. B. The Nun of Monza by Alessandro Manzoni and Karel Poláček's district town .

In 1956, she won second prize in the competition for 1001 nights advertised by the children's book publisher Berlin . As a result, she illustrated numerous books for this publisher. In total, over 50 books with illustrations by Rubin's hand have been published, including Little Well-wishers by Theodor Fontane and Der Drachenturm by James Krüss .
