Eva Schürmann

Eva Schürmann (* 1967 in Essen ) is a German philosopher and university professor. Since 2011 she has held the chair for philosophical anthropology , cultural and technical philosophy at the Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

Life

Eva Schürmann studied philosophy, comparative literature and art history at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After studying in Paris, Cambridge and Bologna, she graduated in 1994 with a Magister Artium on Spinoza's ethics. In 1998 she received her doctorate from the University of Witten / Herdecke with a comparative thesis on Maurice Merleau-Ponty and James Turrell . After a visiting professorship at the University of Chicago , she completed her habilitation in 2007 at the TU Darmstadt with a text on the practice of visual perception . From 2009 to 2011 she was professor for cultural philosophy and aesthetics at the HAW Hamburg . In 2014 she received the Aby Warburg Foundation Science Prize . In the academic year 2014/15 she was a fellow at the Käte-Hamburger-Kolleg “Law as Culture” at the University of Bonn . Since 2015 she has been co-editor of the Allgemeine Zeitschrift für Philosophie .
