The Evangelical Christ Church is a listed church building at Schützenstrasse 4 in Meschede in the Hochsauerlandkreis ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

History and architecture

The classicistic, plastered hall building with a retracted, semicircular choir was built in 1839 according to plans by the construction manager (site manager) Hoffmann, based on Schinkel's 1834 design for the Berlin suburban churches. The portal front is gabled. The roof turret was put on in 1866. After the Second World War, the church, which was badly damaged by the effects of the war, was expanded and redesigned.

The famous painter August Macke was baptized in this church.
