The Evangelical Church Wadern is the parish church of the Evangelical Church Community Wadern - Losheim in the Saar-West parish of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland .

history

From 1851 a simple courtroom was used by the evangelical community for church services. Due to the growth of the community, the construction of today's church in Kräwigstrasse began in 1895, and was inaugurated on September 30, 1896.

During the Second World War , the neighboring rectory and the lead windows of the church were destroyed by bombs.

The church was extensively renovated in the mid-1960s. First of all, new lead-glazed choir windows were installed in 1965; In 1966/1967 the free-standing bell tower and today's sacristy were erected. The latter was expanded during another major renovation of the church in 1993/1994.

architecture

The simple church interior, built in the style of historicism , draws on stylistic features of the Gothic . In the south, a five-sided, polygonal choir adjoins the rectangular church interior as an apse . The free-standing bell tower is based on the style of the 1960s when it was built.

Furnishing

Also worth mentioning are the stained glass windows in the chancel and the rose window above the entrance.
