Historical view of the church

The Evangelical Church Aš , a Trinity Church , was centrally located next to the town hall in the city of ( German Asch) in the north-west of the Czech Republic. It fell victim to a fire in 1960 after renovation work.

Construction of the church began in 1747 and was consecrated in 1749. Fires threatened to destroy the church several times. On January 16, 1960, it burned down completely after a stove exploded.

The pulpit altar with the coat of arms of the von Zedtwitz family was the work of Simon Zeitler, who is considered a Vogtland baroque master. He also made the elaborately designed baptismal font , which was connected to an altar-shaped wood carving behind it. Its central motif is John the Baptist at the baptism of Jesus. A number of tombs from the Protestant cemetery and some epitaphs from the von Zedtwitz family are part of the lapidarium in the Aš City Museum .
