history

Initially, the Protestant community of Görsroth belonged to Auroff , until its own half-timbered church was built in 1596. This was demolished in 1869 due to its disrepair. As early as the middle of the 18th century, the church registers were filled with complaints about the poor condition of the church.

Planning for the new building began in 1867. The foundation stone was laid on July 23, 1870, and the inauguration took place on October 6, 1872. At the same time the cemetery was moved in the direction of Kesselbach .

The organ was built in 1872 by the organ builder Gustav Raßmann , Möttau and installed in the gallery in 1889.

The bells were melted down during the First World War . After the end of the war, they were replaced by steel bells. After the Second World War , these steel bells were again replaced by today's bells. One of the steel bells can be found as a death knell in the Görsroth cemetery, the other hangs on a wooden frame on the church premises and thus reminds of the fate of the original bells.

In 1990 a sandstone altar was set in the chancel, which replaced the previous wooden altar. In 1995 an interior renovation took place.
